Garbage Disposal etc.

Well, guess what? Our Garbage Disposal is fine. It was the switch on the wall that went out. It took lots of checking but Grandpa figured it out. He also discussed the problem with our, H.P. group leader, Br. Langham. So, Br. L came over this afternoon and replaced the switch. And wonder of wonders, the Garbage Disposal works extremely well. Now our problem is to get that spare tire up to par in case we have any more flats.
Oh yes, I have to get my driver's license renewed and my birthday is coming soon. I have called and called to get an appointment but I can't get through. I guess the next step is to go down there and stand in line. I have to do it this week because I am going to AZ next Monday through Friday. At least my teeth are OK. I had my cleaning today and all is well in my mouth. Hooray!!!

Garbage Disposal

Now it is Thursday and our garbage disposal popped the circuit breaker and we can't get it back on. So I think we had better be careful what we throw in the sink.
You know, that with all of these things there were blessings in disguise. We cleaned out the trunk of the car and threw away all kinds of stuff. And we cleaned up the service porch and threw away a bunch of stuff. Anyway, we are fine. It is just our stuff that is wearing out.

Flat Tire

We had the waterheater problem which was resolved on Tuesday. Tuesday evening we got in the car to go get some dinner and it moved strangely. So we got out and discovered a flat tire on the passenger front side. We went back in and I cooked, yes, I cooked dinner. Next morning we called the Auto Club and they came and put our spare little tire on. By the time I went out to go somewhere, it was flat. So our friend, Darla, was here and she and Jim took the original tire to be fixed. When they got back, I called the Auto Club again. They came and put it back on the car. I am so thankful that we pay for the Auto Club because there is no way that we could have even gotten the old tire off. So all is well except we need to get a spare tire that works.

No Hot Water!

On Sunday Morning, September 14, 2008, we discovered that we had very little hot water. And then we discovered water all over the floor on the service porch. Yes, the water heater was leaking. It forced me to throw away some useless paper, catalogs and magazines that were in a box on the floor. On Monday morning I called the plumber and they came out on Tuesday morning and replaced the water heater. They would have come Monday but we had to go the Grandpa's Compton High School reunion lunch. And 900 + dollars later we again have hot water and the water heater does not rumble anymore. Oh yes, all of the stuff from the service porch is in the kitchen. There was a blessing in disguise - I threw away a bunch of stuff. I also discovered my canning pot and a large soup pot. I will get rid of them if nobody wants them. Let me know if you are interested.

Unknown child

I found this picture of a little girl about 5 years old I would guess. Does anyone think they know who she is? Does she look like anyone that we know?

Old Pictures

This last week or so I have been scanning old pictures and putting them on my family tree. The Rhymes Family Tree is on Ancestry.com. So I learned how to scan and how to import pictures. Hooray for me. This is a picture of my mom when she graduated from high school in 1934.
